Births
In Belgium you must register each birth at the municipality where the child was born. Go to your local register office and have the birth registered. Once you have given birth, you must visit the register office for the municipality where the child was born within 15 calendar days.
Many hospitals will help you register the birth of your child. The relationship of the two parents must be clear (through marriage or acknowledgement of parenthood before the birth).
If not, the father will not be able to report the birth. If you are unmarried or divorced, either the mother must report the birth or the father and mother together.
